Yearbook

In Yearbook, students use their creativity to create an attractive, creative, and organized record of the school year. They work together to take pictures, construct pages, and plan surveys that will fill the yearbook. The advisor and his students also print and distribute the student and staff photos from Picture Day. On the last day of school, the class presents an entertaining video collage of photos that reminisces the memories of the past year.

Photography

Students taking the photography elective at XIS will all start by learning the three basic elements of operating a camera, ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. The first of two classes in a week students will learn the technical aspects of photography and the second class time students will get hands on practice taking pictures. Once students are comfortable using a camera in manual mode and have a good grasp on the basic settings they will then learn composition, sports photography, macro photography, portrait photography, and video. Every student will be encouraged to use their own unique perspectives and creativity in learning to compose pictures.

Korean Language

Did you know that Korean has a systematic alphabet that expresses every sound in the world? Explore the beautifully designed 한글 (Hangeul) in Korean language class. The Beginning Korean class welcomes all who are interested in the Korean language and the unique culture of Korea. Also, the Advanced Korean class welcomes all who want to broaden their knowledge about Korean society and enhance their communication skills as they read and discuss Korean literature.

Warrior News

Students in Warrior News get the opportunity to present school news to their fellow classmates, teachers, and parents. The topics range from birthdays to interesting facts on “This Day in History”. The broadcasts are either per-recorded or live streamed over the internet. Students learn how to set up a and produce a broadcast, direct a simple news program, write scripts for presenters, and more. In the future we are hoping to expand broadcasts to XIS sports events for parents who cannot make it to the game location.
